Donald J. “Don” Clark, 88, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29th, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Alice Skranski Clark for over 60 years. Born in New Haven on May 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Considine) Clark. Brother of the late Frank (Clare) Clark. After serving in the National Guard Reserves, he went on to retire from 40 years of working for SNET. His final job, which he enjoyed, was working for the Town of North Haven Recycling Center. Don was a life member of the Mansfield Grove Campers Association, where he spent a lifetime of summers enjoying everything he loved; his family, the beach and clamming. There wasn’t a summer you couldn’t find him swimming or clamming in the ocean or belly down in the sand without a towel. This is where he was the happiest. Don was very proud of his family. He lived a simple life but taught us all how to always appreciate everything we have. Don was an active parishioner of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in North Haven. He volunteered with the social action committee, always willing to give to people that needed help. Don was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Don will be missed tremendously as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was father to Alison (Terry) Talburtt, Donald (Rosemary), Kenneth (Shawn), and Jeffrey (Melissa); grandfather to Patrick (Cristina), Andrew (Phoebe), Justin (Tia), and Brendan (Maddie); great-grandfather to Sacha, Oaklynn and Billie; uncle to Mary Beth Clark, Megan (Jeff) McDaniel and Chris (Bruce) Ritchie; as well as his faithful four-legged companion Lola. The family would like to thank Chris Douchette and the Vitas Hospice staff. They helped us to bring our Dad home for the his last week.
The visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Saturday morning, Feb. 10th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private at a later date in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Don’s name be made to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Denny and I have known Don Clark and his family for many years!! We have had the pleasure and blessed to have been to many of the Clark’ family’s celebrations. Denny often would just find an excuse to just visit him at work when he was working for the town and I often ran into him at tag sales or shopping he was so proud of his family and was never lost for words how grateful he was for his wonderful family and how helpful they were! He never used the word in-laws it was always his sons and daughters! Don certainly will missed by all!
A true gentleman always. I will keep in my prayers……

My deepest condolences to the wonderful Clark family. Mr. Clark was one of a kind; always willing to help anyone in need. Over the past 40 years, Mr. Clark helped me so much; he could fix anything. He was a devoted Dad to Alison, Donald, Kenneth and Jeff. I am so sad that he has passed, but he will always be in the hearts of his family and friends. He loved his family, his cottage, his town and his country. He was a man of faith and conviction, and a hand shake from him was all you needed. My thoughts are with Mrs. Clark and the entire family during these challenging times.
I gonna miss my buddy Mr Clark very much.Rest in peace my friend.
I learned so much about how to serve those in need as I served with Don on our Social Action Committee. Don never tired of coming up with ways to work around any obstacle we encountered. Don was a blessing in my life and I will miss his enthusiasm and beautiful smile.
