Donald Richard Cann, 63, of Bridgewater, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 1, 2021.  He was born in New Haven on September 30, 1957 and was the son of the late Edwin Cann, Sr. and Florence Lupoli Cann.  Don proudly served in the US Marine Corp, where he worked along with the US Navy as a Special Intelligence Communications Operator.  He spent most of his adult working life in bar and nightclub management, and was affectionately known in the Woodbury and Greater Waterbury communities as  the lead bartender at Carlito’s of Woodbury Restaurant. Survived by his brothers Edwin Cann Jr. and Louis Cann, nephews Jason Cann, and Quintin (Victoria) Cann, niece Aubrey (Nicholas) Schoenfeld, and his beloved fiancee Alison Birks and their dog Moxie, with whom he shared a deep appreciation for the natural world, especially plants and birds. An avid hiker and animal lover, he was also an amazing cook and lover of good food and drink, a talented landscaper, and had an eye for photography. In the last year of his life, he discovered a talent for drawing birds.  Don had the gift of being able to connect to people through laughter, was always available to lend a helping hand, and had many friends and loyal customers who will miss him dearly.

The visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Feb. 10th from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
