Dorothy J. Miranda Simjian, 90, of North Haven for many years passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Regency House, Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Simjian. Dorothy was born in New Haven on March 19, 1926; daughter of the late Antonio and Loretta Mattero Miranda; was an excellent seamstress in the Garment Industry for many years and made numerous quilts. Dorothy was a member of the North Haven Garden Club, was an amateur Tai Chi teacher and loved Tom Jones. Mother of Edward Simjian (Doreen), Charles “Fred” Simjian II (Georgianna Reed) and the late James Simjian. Grandmother of Matthew, Mandy, Deanna and Michael Vincent Simjian. Great Grandmother of Griffin and Keagan Bundock-Simjian. Sister of Mafalda Rapuano (Louis), Olga Rebeschi and the late Rose Mangooso, Viola Cimino, Rita Borrelli, Jean Malin, Marie Cavallaro, Louis, Victor, Joseph and Carmine Miranda. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 10:30 with the Rev. Timothy Meehan officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:00 until time of service. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Haven Garden Club, through the funeral director.

Aunt Dot will truly be missed my heart goes out to her dear family.
She’s now dancing in heaven I can see her with uncle Eddie her loving husband and my mom and dad! She was one special aunt who spent many years teaching me sewing and crafting. I’ll always remember those special times. ❤🌷

I’m so sorry for your loss Ed, Doreen and family. I had no idea and no one told me. I would have been there. She was a very special wonderful mother , mother in law , wife and grandmother.
