Dorothy Mae Baird Pitcher, 89, of New Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 at Hospital of St. Raphael campus. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Roy Pitcher. Dorothy was born in Dedham, Massachusetts on August 17, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Medwin and Mary Catherine Mason Baird. She had worked as an Administrative Assistant for CT/Mass Mutual and was also the Montowese Baptist Church Secretary, and member for many years. Dottie volunteered for many ministries in her church but mostly enjoyed singing in the choir throughout the years, she even spear headed a children’s choir. Dorothy was a member of “Friday Night Duckpin Bowling league” and enjoyed dancing with the Footlighters of North Haven. She also was a A.C. Gilbert Girl member, and an avid New York Yankee fan.
Beloved mother of Sally Pitcher and the late Linda Susan Pitcher McGoldrick. Grandmother of Tiffany, Aaron, Leah and Seth McGoldrick, Aunt of Stacey Williams, and Susan Pergolatti. Predeceased by her brother Donald R. Baird.
The visiting hours will be Friday, Feb. 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family-North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to the Montowese Baptist Church on Saturday morning, Feb. 5th at 9:30 to attend a funeral service. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montowese Baptist Church, 201 Quinnipiac Avenue, North Haven, CT 06473.

It was truly an honor and a blessing to have been Dottie’s pastor these past 25 years! Her laughter and contagious joy for everyone will be deeply missed. Rest in peace my sister in Christ.

Dottie was a friend to me from the age of 12 years to the present – a span of 77 Years. She was so special. We shared the highs and lows of life. Dottie lived her life with grace and dignity. I miss her physical presence greatly, but will always call forth her memory to be my my side.
