Francis A. Palmieri Jr. died peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 13, 2014 in Byfield, MA at the age of 89. Francis is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine, of Byfield, MA; and his children Donna and husband Robert Tommell, Frank and wife Linda Palmieri, and Mary and husband John Adamik; he is preceded in death by his sisters Lois Palmieri and Anne Meryl Nye and brother John Palmieri. He is survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Francis was born on October 24,1925 in Derby to Francis and Anne Palmieri. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater. Francis married Lorraine, his lifelong sweetheart, in 1945. Living in New Haven, he served the city of New Haven as a fire fighter and EMT. After retirement, Francis and Lorraine spent many wonderful years in Bonita Springs, FL., before relocating to Byfield, MA for the past 15 years.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday afternoon at 1:00. Family and friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Interment services with full military honors will follow at 1:30 pm in All Saints Cemetery.
