Edward D. Nigretti Jr. age 69 of West Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford surrounded by his loving family. Eddie was born in New Haven on September 6, 1948 and was the son of the late Edward D. Nigretti Sr. and Lorraine Abel Nigretti. More affectionately known as “Big Eddie” he was someone that could make you laugh at the drop of a hat, and just being in his presence would lighten even the darkest moods. Eddie’s immense love for music was evident. He was a member of the “Jive tones”, “the Metropolitans” “Vintage Gold” and “Platinum”, all of which specialized in his favorite genre, doo-wop. He loved to sing, but he mostly loved how his music would make people smile. He loved having fun and watching others do the same. On the rare occasions when he wasn’t singing, Eddie loved being on the beach, spending time with his two sons and grandson, and riding his bike around town. He leaves behind his two sons Edward Nigretti III & his fiancé Jennifer and Michael Nigretti and his wife Gabriela as well as his Grandson, Edward Nigretti IV; beloved sisters; Carol Esposito, Margaret Flores (Herman), Lorraine Martinez, Cheryl Nigretti and Brenda Nigretti (Ramon); several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the entire staff at Connecticut Hospice for their care and compassion over the last few days.
Family and friends are invited to a “Celebration of Edward’s Life” on Tuesday, July 10th from 5 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
