Edward J. Lanouette, Jr., known to many as “Mombo,” 79, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford with his devoted wife and niece Laura by his side. He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Regina “Reggie” Giles Lanouette. Edward was born in New Haven on September 18, 1937; son of the late Edward J. Lanouette, Sr. and Caroline Longo Lanouette. Ed enjoyed meeting his friends at Burger King; he was especially fond of children and animals and his greatest joy in his life was his grandchildren and family. Ed was a man full of generosity and if you were his friend you were a friend for life. Father of Michael (Angel) Lanouette, and Edward J. Lanouette IV. Grandfather of Alexa, Ariana and Michael Lanouette II. Brother of Catherine (Ralph) Colavolpe and the late Joan Gillette and Donald Lanouette, Sr. and sister-in-law JoAnn Lanouette. He was predeceased by his son Edward Lanouette III and Nicole “Goober” Stepen, whom he raised as his daughter. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to his friends and family who came to be by side during his time of illness. They would also like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at Yale New Haven Hospital NICU, MICU, and 10-7 East Pavilion as well as the entire staff at Gaylord Hospital. A special “Thank You” to Dr. Charles Matouk, Dr. Ajoy Kapoor, Dr. Eric Liben, and Dr. Leomerto Somera for their special care and compassion they provided during Ed’s time of need.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Saturday morning, June 3rd, at 9:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut, 501 George Street, New Haven, CT 06511. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
