Edward J. McManus, 98, of Hamden, formerly of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at his home. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to the late Lucy D’Alessio McManus. Edward was born in Killingly, CT on September 18, 1924, and was the son of the late Andrew J. and Alice Stone McManus. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during World War II. Edward had a long career in the Graphic Arts industry as a Lithographic ink expert having worked for National Folding Box (Federal Paper Board) from 1947 – 1961, BASF Inmont from 1961-1974, and Sun Chemical Corp. 1974 until his retirement in 1991. Father of Edward (Kathleen) McManus and Robert (Michele) McManus. Loving poppy to Melissa (James) Greenwood, Michael and Ashley McManus and to his great grandson Luke Greenwood. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Mary McManus Kryzminski (John), Francis (Frank) McManus, Richard McManus (Ann), Anne McManus Decresenzo, Andrew McManus (Dorothy) Raymond McManus (Harriet) and Shirley McManus Forbes (Robert). The McManus family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to the nurses and staff at Benchmark Senior Living ” for the excellent care and compassion” provided Ed the past two and a half years.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday morning, Nov. 29th from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A graveside funeral service will follow at 12 noon in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

He lived a great life. We thought he would last a few months after mom passed but he stayed for 2 1/2 years. We were blessed to have him for so many years. Happy holidays !
