Edwin Montanaro, 89, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Theresa C. Girardi Montanaro. Edwin was born in New Haven on May 21, 1929 and was the son of the late Louis and Maria Massa Montanaro. He earned a bachelor’s degree from UCONN. Edwin had worked in the banking industry for 30 years retiring as Vice-President of First Constitution Bank. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Through the years, Edwin had studied to be a pharmacist, enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was a UCONN Women’s basketball fan. Father of Edward J. Montanaro and his wife Tamela, Lisa A. Hernandez and her husband Tony. Grandfather of Edward Montanaro, Terren Lawlor, Anthony and Alyssa Montanaro, Jenna, Anthony and Alexander Hernandez. Great-grandfather of Emma Lawlor, Brother of Micheline and Louis Montanaro III.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2809 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Saturday morning, August 18th at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.
