Ellen M. Shea LeGrand, 83, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9th, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Charles LeGrand, Sr. Ellen was born in New Haven on October 3, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Rosamond Blaisdell Shea. She had worked for the former Edward Malleys Department Store, was a bus monitor in North Haven for the former Nutile Bus Company, was the owner of Ellen’s Antiques, and later, her and her husband were the owners and operators of C & E Wood Products and Snow Removal. Ellen was a New York Yankees baseball fan and an avid bowler. Mother of Charles LeGrand, Jr. and Daniel (Doreen) LeGrand. Grandmother of Amy (Justin) Handy, Michael (Christa) LeGrand, Patrick and Samantha LeGrand. Great-Grandmother of Alyssa, Rachel, Tyler and Carter Handy. Sister of Patricia Johnson. Sister-in-law of Marguerite Ferrucci.
The visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct. 15th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 16th at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to the Funeral Home or contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Charlie and Ellen were two good people. We enjoyed so many good times with them. Ellen was always a great cook and hostess. We spent many times with them going to Anique stores Ellen knew her antiques. We miss those times so much. They are together now. Our condolences to the LeGrand family.
