Lena “Lee” Zona Celentano, 92, of East Haven, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her home. She was wife of the late Nicholas J. Celentano. Lee was born in New Haven on July 18, 1921; daughter of the late Jack and Carmel Esposito Zona; had worked as a Librarian for the East Haven Library for 28 years; was a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and a member of its Ladies Guild; member of the Foxon Recreation League; loved music and played the piano. Mother of Maria (Anthony) Storlazzi and the late Ronald and Dennis Celentano. Grandmother of Ronald P. (Angela Naylor) Celentano, Krystal (Matt) Patterson and Anthony (Vance Smith) Storlazzi III. Great-Grandmother of Ava Marie. Sister of Margaret DiCaprio, Evelynne Amos and the late Peter Zona.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 9:15. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm.
She was a great women from what I remember and used to joke around with me like Ron does. She liked me and always wanted to feed me when I was there. Much love and respect to the entire family. RIP
