Dorothy Cotton Greenough, 89, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Dr. R. Clive Greenough. Dorothy was born in Creston, Illinois on January 12, 1927; daughter of the late Alfred and Lauretta Rossiter Cotton; obtained her Bachelor’s degree in music education from Northwestern University and obtained her Master’s in education from Tulsa University, was a violist in the Wallingford and Meriden symphonies, was founder of the former Greater Hartford Alumni Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota. Mother of Virginia Mautte and her husband Sid. Also survived by three grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Robert Cotton.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue with the Rev. Margaret Jay officiating on Monday morning at 10:00. Family and friends may call from 8:30 am until time of service. Interment will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masonicare, 22 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford, CT 06492.

I am so sorry to learn that our dear Dorothy has passed away.
I have such wonderful memories of Dorothy performed as a violist in the early days of there WSO. In addition to her wonderful musicianship, I loved Dorothy's sense of humor. I cherish the memories.
I am sure that you will cherish your memories as well.

We're sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. She lived a full and productive life, bringing happiness through her music and contributing to symphonies and the lives of her grandchildren.
