Filippo Fiondella, 77, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Maria Abbatiello Fiondella. Filippo was born in Gioia Sannitica, province of Caserta, Italy on November 8, 1939 and was the son of the late Gennaro and Anninna Viscuso Fiondella. He had worked as an Operating Engineer for Local #478 for many years until his retirement. Filippo was a member of the St. Sebastian Club in Ansonia; enjoyed gardening and operating his heavy machine equipment. Father of Anna (Gerald) Salato. Grandfather of Katarina Marie and Angelina Rose Salato. Brother of Angelo Fiondella, Antoinetta Grandetti, Lina Melillo, Pietro Fiondella and the late Guerino Fiondella. Brother-in-law of Giovanni Grandetti, Domenico Melillo, Michelina Fiondella and the late Margharita Fiondella. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 11:30. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum.
