Francesco Farina, 84, of Durham formerly of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Holy Saturday, April 8th, 2023 under Hospice care at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown.  He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Giovanna Vertucci Farina and had known each other since she was eleven years old. Francesco was born in Caserta, Italy on May 22, 1938, and was the son of the late Angelo and Giovanna Brignoli Farina.  He served in the Italian Army, immigrated to the United States, and worked for the Laborers Construction Union Local #455. Francesco enjoyed many of the old Italian traditions, making wine and mushroom hunting just to name a few.  However, what was most important to Francesco was his family and he loved them all unconditionally.  Loving father of Maria Prifitera and her husband Anthony, Julia Kasynak and her husband David.  Beloved and devoted grandfather to Sabrina, Joseph, Gabriella and Nico Prifitera, Francesco, and Gianna Kasynak. Predeceased by his brothers, Antonio, Pietro, and Vincenzo Farina, and his sister Maria.

Family and friends are invited to call at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday morning, April 12th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM.  His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven for the celebration of a Mass of Christian burial at 12 Noon.
