Francis “Ernie” Plaut, 91, of North Haven, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Martindale Plaut. Ernie was born in New Haven on January 18, 1926; son of the late Emil and Marion McLaughlin Plaut; served his country faithfully as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and the Korean war; had worked as a salesman for the former Price Club; was a member of the American Legion, Murray/Reynolds Post #76 of North Haven and a retired member of the Lancraft Fife & Drum Corps. Father of Barbara A. Plaut, Karen L. Plaut and James F. Plaut. Grandfather of James N., Sarah E. and Ethan M. Plaut. Predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Ann Plaut and a brother Robert Plaut.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment with full military honors will be private in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
