Frank M. Gerzabek, 90, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Dolores Marenna Gerzabek. Frank was born in New Haven on March 27, 1932 and was the son of the late Joseph and Stephanie Novicka Gerzabek. He served his country faithfully in the US Army and US Air Force during the Korean war. Frank was a union carpenter and had worked for the New Haven Board of Education for several years until his retirement. He was recognized as a Knight of Honor and a member of the Alumni Father’s Club at Notre Dame High School West Haven. He was involved with New Haven Pee Wee Hockey for many years with his three sons. Frank was a member of the St Francis Cabrini Men’s Club. Frank was an avid Giants fan but what brought him most pleasure was following all his grandchildren’s accomplishments, whether it was sports, dance recitals or any other extracurricular activities, he was always their #1 fan and loved them all unconditionally. Father of Frank (Lisa) Gerzabek, Bill (Jackie) Gerzabek and Tim (Julie) Gerzabek. Grandfather of Jillian, Alexis, Lindsey, Katie, Michael, Jack, Olivia and Grace. Predeceased by his brothers, John, Joseph, George, Stanley and Charles Gerzabek, and sisters Stella Gerzabek Guarino and Helen Gerzabek DeLise. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
The visiting hours will on Friday morning, May 20th from 9:00 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Road, North Haven at 12:00 PM. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame High School, 1 Notre Dame Way, West Haven, CT 06516 or Sacred Heart Academy, 265 Benham Street, Hamden, CT 06514.
Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wlfd Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics, slide presentations and Q&A.
At this very difficult time, our group would like to honor the loss of Frank Gerzabek as a fallen brother. Our military Veterans send out their heartfelt condolences to the Gerzabek family and friends. As an US Army and Air Force Veteran, he had joined an elite group of honorable men and our Country will forever be in his debt.
