Frederick “Rick” J. Nuzzo, 68, of New Haven, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the VA Hospital, West Haven. He was the beloved husband of Ann Milano Nuzzo. Rick was born in New Haven on March 10, 1955, and was the son of the late Frederick and Rosemarie Guida Nuzzo. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy. Rick was the owner and operator of Apizza Grande for many years. He will always be remembered for his hard work and dedication to his pizzeria. Rick enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of football, especially the Atlanta Falcons. Father of Erica (William) Morelli and Ashley Nuzzo. Grandfather of Alexander Carpentier and Sofia Morelli. Brother of David Nuzzo, Michael Nuzzo, and Marianne Rivadeneira. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. “On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the West Haven VA staff for their exceptional care and continued support.”
The visiting hours will be on Monday, January 8th from 4 to 7 pm at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina at Church of Our Lady of Pompeii, 335 Foxon Road, East Haven on Tuesday morning at 11:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery.
Ann and family I am truly devastated over Rick’s passing. He was like wait always kind to me. The best pizza maker in the world was very kind when I was in the nursing home anytime that I ordered he would make everything just like how I would I met Rick in our college days but I knew him from the pizza place from before when his mom and dad on the one on grand Avenue so sorry Anne my condolences to you and your girls and the rest of the family

We are sad to hear the the news about Rick we live across the street from a pizza Grande and he always came over to talk to Dave who sat on the porch and waved to him everyday we’d love to Pizza and we loved him rest in peace rick.
