Gary L. Kuchachik, 57, of Orange passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Landa Leoni Kuchachik and devoted father of Collin G. and Cole E. Kuchachik. Gary was born in Hartford on October 3, 1963 and was the son of Lillian Hopkins Kuchachik and the late Nicholas Kuchachik. He served in the US Marine Corp active reserves from 1980 through 1986. Gary earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University. He was an Executive Recruiter and Co-Owner of MRG Search and Placement and later was the Managing Director of Kaisenspark LLC. Gary’s greatest source of joy in life was his children whom he loved dearly and supported in all that they did. Their involvement in competitive Tae Kwon Do and Gary’s enjoyment of the sport lead him to explore an opportunity with Lajust Sports America, Inc, a company that developed electronic impact detection and a scoring system for Tae Kwon Do, where he became CEO. Gary was the brother of Mark Kuchachik, son-in-law of Ernest and Hope Leoni, and brother-in-law of Margot Ronai (Peter) and Thea Torrenti (John). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and was fortunate to have had many dear friends who remained very close to him throughout his battle with his illness. Gary was grateful for the friendship he shared with his devoted primary aide for the past several years, Solomon, and for Audrey, Stephanie and the many other aides who cared for him compassionately over the years and became his friends. The family also wishes to thank all of the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and other medical professionals at Yale New Haven Hospital and Gaylord Hospital for the care they provided to Gary.
Due to Covid 19 and for the safety of all Gary’s relatives and friends a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys & Girls Village, 528 Wheelers Farms Road, Milford, CT 06461, www.bgvillage.org.

Oh the memories growing up with my “little” cousin. We have many fond memories of numerous Holiday gatherings with our families. We all had a good time with of course good food. I bet you are now catching all the fish with your Dad and Uncle Tony (my Dad) in heaven. Catch a big one!! Love you and till we meet again in God’s Holy Kingdom. In cousin Love, Judy

Gary was one of the kindest guys I ever knew. I am so sorry for his suffering and losing him so young. We went to high school together and he was like a big brother to me and many other Suffield High girls. We will miss you, Gary.

My bestest college friend and one of the dearest people to me in my life. Gary was my rock. An angel of a human being and the most wonderful, honorable man. Gary will forever be alive in my heart and mind. I have cherished the amazing friendship we have had for almost 40 years. My love and prayers to Landa , Collin, Cole and the whole family. I am here for you!
Rest easy GK.❤️
It was a great privilege to know Gary as a businessman, as a parent in our kids shared sport, and then most importantly as a friend. It was great fun and exciting to share travel experiences and TKD competitions to different cities. The biggest stand out is our forever memories of San Francisco together. And when not traveling our get-togethers in your kitchen.
We admire this great family for so very many reasons.
Landa we send our deepest heartfelt condolences to you and your family. You are an amazing woman. We know Collin and Cole embody great love and strength that you and Gary have imparted to them. We pray for the peace of Gary’s soul, and your family’s fondest and everlasting memories of him.

We met in the early 90’s in a business environment. This meeting evolved into the most rewarding friendship I have ever experienced. Gary, a Marine and me, a Submariner doesn’t sound like a good fit for friendship but it was. We only met face to face three times (once I visited in Hamden) but that was enough. Our remaining contact over the years consisted of phone calls. Sometimes 2-3 per year and other times up to 6-7, but each call was as if we were only separated by a few days. Sometimes I called and other times Gary would call but for no specific reason…just to touch base with a friend. Gary was a great help and confidant to me personally and my wife’s career. But most of all was his caring and kindness, the joy and pride Gary felt for his family and friends, and Gary’s never give up attitude. We always ended our calls with “God Bless” to each of our families. I am sad at Gary’s passing, but proud to have been his friend.
To my roommate in college and the man/Marine who got me through college. If it wasn’t for you pal I don’t believe I ever would have finished college. I’m forever indebted to you….You battled and fought MS for the majority of your adult life and you were my perspective on how lucky I had it every single day. I’m so grateful for our relationship and all the great talks we had… I remember when the boys were little and you were concerned about their confidence so you decided to involve them into Martial Arts. Boy, was that a good move. Today your boys are amazing young men and unbelievable athletes. You and Landa did an awesome job. WELL DONE! I will miss our talks and check in’s. The foundation has been laid and now you can RIP brother.
Your friend,
Ant
