George Andrew Crowley, 100, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his daughters home in Northford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Florence Sylvie Gibbons Crowley. George was born in Bristol, CT on August 15, 1917 and was the son of the late Andrew and Mildred Holcomb Crowley. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific, HQ. 1st BN. 169th Infantry 43rd Division received the Purple Heart and the Division Medal of Honor. George had worked as a supervisor for Pratt & Whitney for many years until his retirement. He was a life time Mason; member of the New Haven Raccoon Club and a member of the V.F.W. George was an avid sportsman. Beloved father of William G. Crowley, Dolores V. Borrelli, Andrea J. Gibson and the late John A. Crowley. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a grandson and his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery, VA in the Spring. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 . The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangement.
