George J. Maenza, 95, of Orange, formerly of Charter Oak Avenue, East Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, at the Orange Health Care Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Marylou Purcell Maenza. George was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 2, 1926, and was the son of the late Frank and Fannie Marino Maenza. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during World War II and the US Air Force during the Korean war. George had worked for the East Haven Board of Education for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed visiting the East Haven Senior Center, riding horses, and bowling. Father of James J. Maenza (Cheryl), Joyce Borelli (Edward), the late George and William Maenza, and Janet Maenza Calestro. Grandfather of Melissa Carbo, Hunter Calestro, Tim, Nicholas and Jamie Maenza, Taylor and Courtney DelColle, Jordan and Sydney Maenza. Predeceased by brothers and sisters.
The visiting hour will be Saturday morning, August 21st from 8:30 to 9:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven at 10:00 AM. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
