George O. Pendleton, 96, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Apple Valley Healthcare, Ayer after a period of declining health.  George was born in Bristol, RI on March 21 1925 a son of the late Charles and Mary Jane (MacLeod) Pendleton.  His beloved wife of 45 years, Martha L. (Hunt) Pendleton predeceased him in 1991.  George is survived by two children, William H. Pendleton and his wife Sherry of New Bern, NC and Karen A. Zitnay of Richland, NC; his long-time companion and friend, Dorothy Ledger of Fitchburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Besides his wife, George was predeceased by one son; David B. Pendleton; two sisters and three brothers. George worked for many years at Pratt Whitney as a purchaser.  He was a volunteer firefighter in Bristol, RI and North Haven, CT for over 44 years.  He was a proud United States Navy Veteran, serving his country during WWII.  George was also a long-time member of the American Legion Post 134 of Alfred, Maine.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to Center Cemetery, Elm Street, North Haven on Friday morning, Jan. 7th at 10:00 to attend a graveside funeral service with full military honors.
