Georgianne “Aunt Bea” “Georgi” DeMaio, 87, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully into God’s hands at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford, on Saturday, December 16th, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late John DeMaio, Sr. and the loving mother of the late John DeMaio, Jr. Georgi was born in New Haven on June 11th, 1936 and was the daughter of the late John (Jake) and Mary Benzi Gianotti. She is survived by her sister Carol Sue Spinaci, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was employed for many years at University of New Haven before retiring. Georgi enjoyed spending time with family, would never miss any events including school plays, recitals, etc. …, spending time with her many friends, going out to lunch, talking for hours while enjoying that other cup of coffee and her occasional trips to the casino brought her great joy. Also, not to be forgotten, she was a huge fan of UConn men’s basketball and the Boston Red Sox. Cousins Restaurant in Wallingford was her favorite local stop for a bite to eat, many thanks to the staff there for the awesome service and attention they provided her. In the past, her enjoyment was her snowbird getaways to Puerto Rico and meeting many friends while there.” Aunt Bea” was known for keeping such a spotless home that anyone could have eaten off the floors. It was truly a blessing to have known this wonderful woman, she was deeply loved by all! Rest in Peace dear Aunt Bea, your special memories will always remain in our hearts. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care given from Masonic Health Care Center and their caring Hospice Team.
The visiting hours will be Wednesday morning, Dec. 27th, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, Wallingford at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852.
We were so sorry to hear of Georgi’s passing. She was a wonderful person and great friend to my mom Betty. She wii truly be missed. May she rest in peace.
Aunt Bea was a wonderful aunt. She will be missed by all. We enjoyed many visits with her, going out to breakfast, lunch and an occasional dinner.
It was always a treat visiting her at her home where she always prepared delicious food for her guests.
She was a loving and understanding person who will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace Aunt Bea and now you can join Uncle John and John Jr. in heaven. You truly must be on your way there now or have arrived.
