It is with great sadness that the family of, Gertrude Daiber Steinle, 89, announce her passing on October 22. 2022 in Ocean Isle Beach, NC., where she recently resided.  She was the wife of the late Robert A. Steinle.  Gertrude was born October 24, 1932, to parents Waldemar and Antonia Pienta Daiber in Odessa, Ukraine, Russia.  She then immigrated to America with her sisters Johanna and Irma in 1949 and became a proud United States Citizen in 1954.  In 1952, Gertrude met Robert Steinle as members of the Harugari Club.  Gertrude and Robert married, went on to have six children and celebrated 62 years together.  Through her years, she traveled several times across the United States, including trips to Canada and the Caribbean.  Her love of music and singing gave her joy as a former choir member of Arbeiter Maenner Chor of West Haven, CT.  She was an amazing cook and known by many for her apple cake.  Her life centered around family, caring for her children, grandchildren, and later on spending time with her great-grandchildren.  The greatest love in her life was for her son, Robert “Butch”.  She will be missed by her children; Raymond (Heidi), Edward (Maryjane), Albert (Sue), Heidi and Diane, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was predeceased by two young siblings in Russia, her eldest sister Johanna and twin sister Irma, extended cousins, and her beloved son, Butch.

Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the Office at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Monday morning, Nov. 7th at 11:45 and may follow the funeral procession to the graveside for a 12-noon service.
