Giulio Varriale, 69, of Branford passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 47 years to Rosaria Ottati Varriale. Giulio was born in Naples, Italy on October 1, 1947; son of the late Mario and Caterina Wurzburger Varriale; had worked for Waldbaums of Branford, later at Anthony’s of Guilford then the Children’s Center of Hamden. Giulio enjoyed the stock market and coin collecting. Father of Mario Varriale, Nando Varriale, Monica (Fulvio) Grandetti and Marcella Varriale. Grandfather of Felicia , Nando, Jr., Giulio, Mario and Chiara Varriale, Jaxson Diggs and Fulvio Grandetti, Jr. Brother of Joseph (Anna) Varriale, Tony (Sandi) Varriale, Domenic (Linda) Varriale, Maria (Mario) Ciccone, Elena (Joseph) Iamunno, Anna (Tony) Delmonaco and Rita (Frank) Gambardella. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael Church, 29 Wooster Place, New Haven on Saturday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

Giulio was my cousin and life long friend. His loss will be dearly missed. Our younger years spent together as my dearest friend, holds beautiful memories. Rosaria, we were so sad to hear of Giulio’s passing. We often think of the days he worked at Waldbaum’s with Michael and our trip to Florida for the Sweet Life convention. We hope that your family and your memories of happy times will ease the pain of your loss. God bless you and your family.
