Grace Tirozzi DePaola, 88, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Anthony DePaola. Grace was born in New Haven on October 19, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Emma Montagna Tirozzi. She had worked for the former WorldTech Travel of New Haven and enjoyed travelling and winters at her home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Grace was one of the first Matrons on the North Haven Police Department. Mother of Peter and his wife Ellen DePaola. Grandmother of Andrea and Tony DePaola. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the nurses and staff at Masonicare Hospice for the excellent comfort and care they provided to Grace.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Friday morning at 10:30 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Road, Guilford, CT 06437 or the ACU at the Masonicare, 22 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford, CT 06492. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
So sorry for the loss of my lifelong childhood friend, Gracie. I will miss her very much, but I will always remember the happy times we had together. I would like to extend my condolences to the family. I am sad that she has left us, but I take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.
