Harry David Smith, 84, of Crestview, FL, formerly of Northford, CT passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2021, in Milton, Florida. He was the beloved husband of the late Diane Williams Smith. Harry was born in New Haven on February 9, 1937, the son of the late Harry and Alice Whiting Smith. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and continued his work for Veterans through The American Legion. Dave, as he was often called, served as Post #75 Commander, 7th District Commander and as Department Commander of The American Legion Department of Connecticut in 1996-1997. Harry worked as an automobile mechanic, for many years at the former Ekblade Oldsmobile of Hamden until his retirement. Dave was the loving father of Deanna Cavanaugh (Timothy) of North Haven, Jeffrey Smith (Diana) of Milton, FL and Roger Smith of North Haven. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Cheryl Smith, his sisters Marion Pohlman, Ruth Davis, Mildred Reese, and his brother Charles Smith
