Helen V. Liska, of Stratford, Connecticut passed away on August 15, 2018 at the age of 97.   Helen was born on August 29, 1920 in Seanor, PA, to Joseph and Mary (Marcinko) Shema.  She was predeceased by her husband, Jan Alois Liska, and her brother Paul Shema and sister Mary (Sharnick). She is survived by her children, Jan A. Liska, Raymond P. Liska (Karen), and Robert J. Liska (Paula), residing in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Lisa M. Cullen (I. Lawrence) of North Haven, Connecticut.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua Liska, Sara Handler, Kaileen and Kristyn Cullen, and four great grandchildren, Dakota and Max Liska, and Brooks and Wyatt Handler.Helen worked for many years at Remington Rand in Bridgeport, Connecticut, retiring at the age of 65. She fully embraced life, with all of its joys and sorrows, and was an avid gardener well into her 80’ She loved sewing, watching golf, tennis and boxing, and would often discuss and debate the details of those sporting events with her children. She was a talented cook, who taught her daughter and daughters-in-law traditional Slovak cooking and loved testing and sharing new recipes. Helen was known for her wonderful sense of humor, her boundless energy, and her rare and remarkable ability to laugh at human foibles (even her own.) Always feisty and ready to join in the fun.  She was full of life; a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.   She will be sorely missed.

 A private family memorial service for Helen will be held in Cape Cod,Massachusetts.
