Howard Emerson Rohloff, age 103, entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Mr. Rohloff a lifelong Connecticut resident was born in New Haven on March 18, 1920, son of the late Frank & Minnie Bucholz Rohloff.  He previously lived in North Haven for 75 years. He was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.  Howard studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Connecticut.  He was a WWII veteran serving in the Army Signal Corps. He was employed by SNET for 38 years where he was Director of PBX (private business exchanges). In the 1960s he volunteered and served as Police Commissioner in the Town of North Haven.  He was an Eagle Scout, member of SNET Pioneers and American Legion. After retirement from SNET Howard continued working as a Professional Engineer.  He enjoyed travelling, visiting countries in every part of the world. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed canoeing and fishing, swimming and working in his yard.  He was most happy being with his family when they visited.  Survivors include his children: Deborah (Roger) Clark of TN, Robert (Phyllis) Rohloff of CT, Brent (Lorna) Rohloff of VT, four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife Alice, a sister Barbara and brother Frank Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning, October 11th at 10:00 in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3 Trumbull Place, North Haven. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue have been entrusted with the arrangements.
