James Franco, Jr., 98, of Norh Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, at The Landing with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Caciopoli Franco. James was born in New Haven on September 12, 1925, and was the son of the late James and Maria DeStefano Franco, Sr.  He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII. James worked as a police officer for the city of New Haven for 20 years until his retirement and later as a custodian for the North Haven School system. Father of James “Jay” (Sheila) Franco and Cindy (Phil) Montuori. He is also survived by two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Peter, Gus, Nicholas, Anthony Franco, Marie Miranda and Judith Arjavich. The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to The Landing and Constellation Hospice staff for their compassionate care and support shown to them and James.

The visiting hours will be on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish in St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., at 12:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
