James M. Capelli, Sr., 75, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17th, 2021 at Yale-New Haven/Smilow Cancer Hospital with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of 24 years to Carolyn Hopkins Capelli. James was born in New Haven on April 17, 1946 and was the son of the late James R. and Antoinette Troiano Capelli. He earned an Associate degree from UNH and was the owner/operator of Merchant Services USA, L.L.C. as a Credit Card Processor. A real people person, James could talk to anyone and was an excellent salesperson; but most of all, he enjoyed his family whom he loved unconditionally. Father of Cherie McKiernan, James M. Capelli, Jr. and Lee Anthony Capelli (Cora). Stepfather of Anita, David, Michelle, and Sandy. Brother of Linda Cretella (Thomas), David and Marian Capelli, Susan Kohary (David), Robert Capelli (Debbie) and the late Lisa Anzel. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, a step great-granddaughter, many nieces, and nephews.
The visiting hours will be Friday morning, May 21st from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted at 11:30 in the parlor. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
