James P. Niziolek, 72, of Northford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family and friends by his side. He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Lorraine Knell Niziolek. James was born in New Haven on November 3, 1945 and was the son of the late Peter J. and Helen Kielar Niziolek. He had served in the US Army Reserves. James obtained a Bachelor degree for Quinnipiac University and a Master’s degree from the University of New Haven. He had worked for the former Universal Wire and later the United Illuminating Company for many years until retiring as a Purchasing Agent. James was a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church, North Haven where he served as an usher and helped run the bingo. He enjoyed fishing and working around his yard. Father of Kimberly Waligroski. Beloved Pa to Alyssa, Tyler and Brinley Waligroski. Brother of Patricia E. Niziolek Colson. Uncle of David Colson, Jr. and Timothy Giunta.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Frances Cabrini Church, 57 Pond Hill Road, North Haven on Tuesday morning, December 12th at 11:30 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in the All Saints Mausoleum. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue have been entrusted with the arrangements.
I am so sorry to be reading the passing of Jim. He was a lovely person. Once in a while I would drive him home from UI. Very family oriented. God Bless you and your family at this time. My deep condolences.
We were so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing! We knew Jim and Lorraine from St Frances Cabrini Church! He was a lovely man and very devoted to his wife! He will be missed by all but especially the Bingo Crew and Counting Crew! Our prayers are with his family and especially His wife Lorraine! Rest in the Peace of God Jim!

So shocked to see the passing of Jim. I worked with him at UI, sometimes consulting with him on purchasing matters. Wonderful person. He spoke lovingly of his family, especially of his grand children and sometimes shared photos of them. My sincerest condolences to your family. RIP Jim.

He was such a soft spoken man and a pretty savvy card player too. I will greatly miss those special times.
