James Peterson, 73, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael Campus.  James was born iin New Haven on February 19, 1948 and was the son of the late John Peterson and Estelle Eithier Babcock. Jim spent the majority of his life being cared for by others. Family was important to Jim, and his affection and love for life made many of his caregivers over the years call him family.  Jim enjoyed planning and going on vacations. A good day for Jim always included a good cup of coffee and conversation. Jim showed his appreciation to his family of caregivers by shouting praise, praying for them and providing affection.  Jim was a fan of all things Disney, the local weather reports, gourmet cookbooks. He loved music and singing.  Jim would often say, “I am a lucky man.” He is survived by his sister: Jackie Peterson of Florida and brother in law Craig. He has nephews in various parts of the country. Predeceased by his housemate/sister Kathryn Jetter.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Center Cemetery, Elm Street, North Haven on Friday morning (TODAY) at 11:00.  Expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial donations may be made to Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation at joyinchildhoodfoundation.org
