James J. Petonito, age 79 of Parrish, FL, formerly of East Haven, CT passed away on October 1st, 2022. Prior to moving to Florida, he lived in the New Haven area for over 75 years. James was born in New Haven, Connecticut on March 11, 1943 and was the son of the late James and Jennie Petonito. He was a graduate of Eli Whitney Technical High School in Hamden, where he successfully completed the carpentry program. Upon graduation, James served in the Army for two years and was awarded a Rifle Expert badge. He served in Korea before beginning his long career as a carpenter. James loved his Harley Davidson. He raced motorcycles and rode for over 50 years with his many friends throughout New England. James leaves behind three children, a son James Petonito of Cheshire, Linda Crouch of Hamden, and Jenna Felicello of Parrish, Florida. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and a brother, Daniel Petonito of Aldie, Virginia. He was predeceased by his brother, John Petonito and his twin sister, Patricia Paolillo.
The visiting hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 11th 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Catholic prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 PM.
Sending deepest condolences during this difficult time. . Together with Paul and Joe the four of us were always up to some kind of shenanigans in our younger years. He will be greatly missed.
