Joan C. DeLoughery, 73, of Apple Rehab, Guilford, formerly of East Haven went to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard E. DeLoughery, Sr. She was born in New Haven on May 5, 1943; daughter of the late Edward G. and Irene H. Boyce; worked hard at many different restaurants as a waitress, hostess and bookkeeper. She was an avid book reader of anything from Robert Frost to Stephen King. One of her favorite T.V. shows was the Highlander series and she was intrigued by the investigative shows. When not watching TV she would crochet or write. Joan loved to drive and drink lots of coffee as well as being a social butterfly. Mother of Robin DeSanto (Ron), Jonathan Baird (Jose), Leonora Baird (Charity) and Ann Marie Lynch (Mark). Sister of William (Bill) Buzzard, George (Pete) Buzzard, Edward (Bob) Buzzard (Gloria) and Helen Burgess. Predeceased by her family cat Boo. Also survived by her many grand and great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Monica’s Church on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00AM and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in Northford Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, Connecticut 06405 in memory of Joan C. DeLoughery. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
