Joan F.  McFarlane (Guidone) Hidalgo, age, 77, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 28, 2021 with her loving family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Miguel A. Hidalgo and Thomas R. Guidone.  Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 13th, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Grace Martin McFarlane. She had worked for Bayer Pharmaceuticals for many years until her retirement. Joan was a connoisseur of film and music that enjoyed dancing to the 50’s tracks from her childhood.  A talented vocalist she was the front woman of the New Haven Band “Touch of Class” and worked with many other local artists in the Tri-State area. She was affectionately known as the “Christmas Kid” that looked forward to sharing her traditions of the holiday season each year with the grandest of enthusiasm. She took pride in her prize-winning roses and especially loved the smell of lilacs.  In addition to her love of arts, culture, and nature, she had a keen intellect and was always ready to share her thoughts on history and politics. She was the loving mother of Michael (Cynthia) Guidone, Elaine Guidone, Joelle Hidalgo, Mark (Roseann) Guidone and Gena (Peter) McGuire.  Stepmother of Alberta (Prokopis) Papastratis, Thomas (Roseann) Guidone, Kathleen Bagnasco, Bernadette (Martin) Peckham, Gregory (Fran) Guidone, Alicia (Steve) Granata, and Monica (Vincent) Buonocore. Sister of Imogene Morris, Elaine Cereghini and Mickey (Robert) Peterson.  Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and her faithful companions, her dogs Silas, and the late Sophie. 

The visiting hours will be Thursday morning, June 3rd from 9:30 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue North Haven for the celebration of a Mass of Christian burial at 12 Noon.  Interment will immediately follow mass in All Saints Cemetery.
