John B. Bertolini Jr., 97, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.  He was the beloved husband of 75 years to the late Angelina Pallotto Bertolini.  John was born in New Haven on July 27, 1924 and was the son of the late Giovanni “John” and Rose Zappatetta Bertolini Sr.  He served his country faithfully in the US Army during World War II.  John worked as an operating engineer for IUOE Local 478 for 44 years until his retirement.  He was always hard working.  John enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally.  Father of Rosemary Perrotti, Genevieve Bertolini, Angela (Rick) Kureczka and the late John Bertolini III.  Grandfather of Toni (Edward) Fracasso, Tiffanie Perrotti, Danielle (Louis) DiMeo, D.J. Ross, Kristin (Joseph) Sanford, Nikki (Patrick) Kureczka, Kyle Kureczka, Tina (A.J.) Pace and the late Donald Perrotti.  Also survived by eight great grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.  Predeceased by his brothers Rody, Almeida, Aldo, Louis Bertolini and his sister Verna Ludoviconi.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to John’s caregivers Tyesha, Tanisha and Kristin for their care and compassion.   

The visiting hours will be Monday, Jan. 10th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden at 12 noon.  Interment will follow in Saint Lawrence Cemetery.
