John Crocco, 63, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Rita Ferrara Crocco. John was born in Cusano Mutri, province of Benevento, Italy on January 10, 1955 and was the son of Giovannina DiDonato Crocco and the late Marino Crocco. He earned an Associate degree from Mitchell College. John had worked for Consolidated Laundry for many years, Michael Anthony’s Restaurant in Milford and was the owner/operator of C & F Landscaping. He was an avid soccer fan and player. John was a member of Club Napoli, Northford and the East Haven Italian-American Club. Father of Janie (Roberto) Porto, Marino (Brittney) Crocco and Jessica (Aric Merly) Crocco. Grandfather of Rita Porto and Gianni Crocco. Brother of Tina (Rick) Onofrio. Son-in-law of Pierina DeAngelis Ferrara and the late Giovanni Ferrara. Brother-in-law of Michael (Angela) Ferrara and Anna (Alphonse) Russo.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Saturday morning at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 11:30. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or to the Noonan Syndrome Foundation at https://thenoonansydromefoundation.kindful.com.

I first knew John in the early 70’s when his family moved into the neighborhood on Old Broadway. John could not speak English when he arrived from Italy but it did not take him long to master the language. He was a great soccer player at NHHS as well as an outstanding person. My condolences to his family and many friends.
