John F Naumann (CAP) of North Haven, Ct husband of Kathleen Posato Naumann passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on Sunday, September 4th, 2022.  John was predeceased by his mom Helen Sonstrom Naumann and his dad John H Naumann. John leaves three sisters Joan Allen, Carol Masiello and Susan Radich. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was very close with his nephew Ron Masiello.  John was predeceased by his brother-in-law Richard Posato and his sister-in-law Marie Posato. John was a master carpenter. He worked for Liveri and many years with the RA Civitello Company He was a member of Connecticut Carpenters Local 24.  John retired in 1998. When John and Kathy bought their home in 1984, he spent many years refurbishing it along with the carriage house. One of John’s passions was cooking. He loved watching all the cooking shows. He prepared gourmet meals for his wife of forty years every night. John was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved all kinds of fishing and hunting although his passion was ice fishing.  He would travel hours listening to Dean Martin, Johnny Maestro and the oldies driving in his jeep. John and Kathy even traveled to Alaska to fish for King Salmon.  John was an honorary member of the City Point Yacht Club, since the age of 18.  He lobstered with his boat the Aragosta Ubriaco for years.  He enjoyed swimming at the North Haven Town Pool after he retired. He loved going to the Mohegan Sun Casino and the Borgata Casino.  He had a group of friends he met daily for coffee at the Common Ground Coffee Shop. He planted a vegetable garden every year. John also had the most beautiful lawn in the neighborhood.  Many people would ring the doorbell asking who did our lawn. He was also proud to say I am my own lawn service. People wanted to hire him. He traveled all of Europe with Kathy through their forty years of marriage. He especially loved Germany and Italy. John had a beautiful life, and he always chose to live it his way.
The visiting hours will be Friday morning, Sept. 9th from 9:00 to 11:00 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, A service will follow in the funeral home at 11:00. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
