John Russell Horn, Sr., 72, of Branford, formerly of North Branford passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his home. John was born in New Haven on July 18, 1945 and was the son of the late Frederick and Elfreda Park Horn. Father of John R. Horn, Jr. and Robert P. Horn (Michelle). Pop-Pop to Justin, Drew, Reese and Tessa. Brother of Fred Horn and the late Wendy Horn Sullivan. Also survived by his former wife and friend Patricia Horn. John had worked in his earlier years running a concession stand at Lighthouse Point and later dedicated over 30 years of service to the Ironworker Locals #15 and #424. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing. John had a true passion for all sports, something he passed down with love to his sons. His joy came from watching his boys on the baseball field. He was happiest amongst his friends and family while enjoying a Seattle Seahawks game or sharing a laugh with his friends at his local spot, Doody’s Totoket Inn.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to East Lawn Cemetery, 58 River Street, East Haven on Saturday morning at 10:00 to attend a graveside service. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, New Haven Chapter, 2969 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518
