John W. Kuhn, 89, of Wallingford, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Helen Gross Kuhn. John was born in New Haven on August 22, 1928 and was the son of the late John and Mary Rachel McCormick Kuhn. He served his country faithfully in the US Army Military Police stationed in Germany after WW II. John had worked for the US Postal Service for many years until retiring as a Supervisor. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #63 of North Haven, the American Legion Murray/Reynolds Post #76 of North Haven and the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction USA 32nd degree of New Haven and Bridgeport. John was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball and Boston Red Sox fan. Brother of Frances Hull and her husband Russell. Predeceased by his son Robert Kuhn and his step-mother Winifred Cheever Kuhn.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, on Friday at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. It was an accident that I fell upon this as I was signing the guest book for a friend when I saw his name. Mr. Russell Hull was my councilor in High School. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
