John David (“Worth”), of North Haven and formerly of New Haven, died of heart failure at Yale New Haven Hospital on June 1.  He was 87. Born on Long Island, Worth moved to North Haven in 1972 and has been an integral member of the Greater New Haven Community for close to fifty years. Worth graduated from Yale College in 1956, received an M.S. in Mathematics from Wesleyan University in 1965 and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from Harvard in 1968. He was a teacher at Suffield Academy for a decade and a highly regarded Principal of Clayton High School, a public school in a suburb of St. Louis, from 1968-1972, before his appointment as Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at Yale University. From 1991-1996 he served as Acting Master and Master of one of the undergraduate residential colleges at Yale.  An avid sports fan, Worth was a lifelong New York Mets supporter and loved to watch anything from the UConn Huskies to the Connecticut Open. He is survived by his wife, Nina Glickson; his children, Christopher of North Haven, Worth of Englewood, Florida, Lauren Pite of Orange, Adrienne of North Haven, Leslie of North Haven, and Sarah of Chicago, Illinois; and his seven grandchildren.

The visiting hours with the family will be on Monday, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven. A private burial service will follow.
