Jose L. Maisonet, 69, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the Nancy Garcia Maisonet for 30 years. Jose was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on August 25, 1952, and was the son of the late Emilio and Ana Nieves Maisonet. He was a Logistics Co-Ordinator for Yale New Haven Hospital, achieving the title of “Lifer” having worked there for what would have been 50 years in December. Jose was a member of the Yale bowling team and many other teams throughout the years, the Yale department softball team and was a charter member of the Teamsters Motorcycle Club. He loved watching any TV shows related to car restoration and cooking, loved music, especially Bruno Mars, loved his dogs and took great pride in his lawn. Beloved father of Catherine Ann Maisonet, Carlos (Patrick) Dolan and Joseph Maisonet. Loving grandfather of Saige Ann Taylor, Calice Cheyenne Taylor and Edward Peter Taylor and Maison Dolan. Brother of Robert, David and Sandra Maisonet and the late Emilio “Bert”, Jr., George and Frank Maisonet. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jose and family would like to thank the entire staff of Smilow GI Cancer Center and 12th floor for their excellent care over the last three years.
The visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 3rd from 5 to 8 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road, East Haven on Wednesday morning May 4th at 11:00. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Closer to Free Fund, Smilow c/o Yale-New Haven Hospital Development, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
Nancy, Carlos, Joseph, Pat Maison, Cat & all the family members of Jose, I am sending my deepest condolences to all of you during this tremendous loss. Jose came to me in my time of need at Yale and for that I will never forget. He didn’t even know me, yet he took the time to sit & visit with me & shared stories. His heart was huge & selfless. He was strung & a fighter – a warrior with a huge supportive & loving family. Nancy my friend, I will always be here for you. I know this is a huge loss to you & your entire family. I knew Jose only briefly yet came to see a wonderful man who loved his family and respected their friends. I watched him as he held Maison and saw the love he showed for her. Carlos, I know you loved him and will miss him. My most sincere condolences on his passing

I am so very saddened to hear of Jose’s passing. I also worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital for many years He was never without a smile and always took the time to chat. He will be missed. I send my sincere condolences to his family.

Since my first day at Yale New Haven almost 14 years ago, Jose welcome me with his open arms and most important with his big smile that I will never forget and will remember and keep with me for the rest of my life.
