Joseph A. Brigante, Jr., 87, of Wallingford, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in New Haven on October 30, 1934, was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Ricardo Brigante, and brother of Florence Cocchicario and the late Alfred Brigante. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Mary DeLucia Brigante who tirelessly cared for him for many years. After graduating from Wilbur Cross High School where he excelled in football and track, Joseph entered the US Army and served our country faithfully as a Ceremonial Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He married his high school sweetheart and trained to become a Tool and Die Maker. He worked very hard to provide for his family never passing up an opportunity for overtime and ended his career at Schick in Milford. Joseph was a proud member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in North Haven. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching UCONN Women’s Basketball and cooking –especially Christmas Eve dinners, Italian food and pancakes for the grandkids. He was always there to lend a helping hand and install an electrical outlet. Beloved father of Patricia (Stephen) Zlamany, Annette (David) Murphy, Joseph (Cheryl) Brigante III, and Mary-Jo (Emmet) Murphy. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Andrew Lynn, Patryce (Anthony) Cintron, Matthew Brigante, David (DJ) Murphy Jr., Anastasia Lynn, Melissa Brigante, Gillian Murphy, Nicole Murphy, Domenick Zlamany, and Christian (CJ) Zlamany, and great grandchildren Dylan Cintron and Talon Cintron.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 13th from 9:00 to 10:30 am at North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, Wallingford at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
So sorry to hear my Godfather passed. His mom, dad, and brother were there to greet him. May he rest in peace.

I am Trish’s daughter if anyone is wondering I didn’t know home well but I know how it feels to lose someone you truly love so I’m with u guys there so I’m truly truly sorry for the loss of a great man and great soul.
Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wlfd Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics, slide presentations and Q&A.
At this very difficult time, our group would like to honor the loss of Joseph Brigante as a fallen brother. As an U.S. Army Veteran and Ceremonial Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, he had joined an elite group of honorable men and our Country will forever be in his debt.
