Joseph A. Bufano, 91, of East Haven passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to Rosemarie Luciano Bufano. Joseph was born in Maybrook, New York on May 17, 1926 and was the son of the late Frank and Teresa Redella Bufano and brother of the late Mary Tassei.  He graduated from Commercial High School in 1943.   Joseph had served his country faithfully in the US Army during WWII, being honorably discharged in 1946 and received the Purple Heart Medal.  He had worked as a printer for the former Beauvais Printing of Guilford for many years until his retirement.  Father of Barbara Rivellini, Frank (Sandra) Bufano, Lynn (Michael) Cocco, and Joseph A. Bufano Jr.  Grandfather of Michael (Stephanie) Bufano, Lauren (Rob) Mather, Louis Rivellini, Marissa Rivellini, John Cocco, Alexandra Cocco, Lillian Bufano, Emily Bufano, Victor Bufano, and Gloria Bufano. Great grandfather of Ryan and Jolene. The family extends their deepest gratitude and love to all their extended family and friends as well as the staff of the Connecticut Hospice Homecare and Doctors Cohen and Drost of the VAMC of West Haven.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Monday morning at 10:30 with the Rev. Timothy Meehan officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405 or a charity of one’s choice
