It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Francis Gabriel Rubino announce his passing on October 30, 2023.  He was 71 years old. Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his family, friends and his parish community at Corpus Christi chapel in Naples, Florida.

Joseph Rubino was born in New Haven, Connecticut on December 4, 1951, and was the son of the late Joseph Rubino, Sr. and Viola Rubino. Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife Linette of Naples, FL and his dear children: Jason of Nashville, TN, (married to Trisha), Michelle of Neptune, NJ, Ariana, and Anthony. He is the beloved grandfather of Giovanni, Sophia, and Julia Rubino.  Joseph is the beloved brother of James Rubino, Jennifer Oville and the late Joann Farkash.  Also survived by Roberta Berman. He loved his family and spent many hours sharing stories of his childhood and life experiences with all his family members, especially his children.

Around the year 2000, Joseph experienced a renewal of his Catholic Faith. He spent several years as a Franciscan Lay Associate, ministering to the homeless and growing deeper in the practice of his faith.

Upon moving to Naples, FL several years later, he continued volunteering in a soup kitchen as he was able.  Joseph was active in his parish community at Corpus Christi Chapel, Naples, FL offering assistance to others wherever he was needed.  He is noted by friends and family to have had a servant’s heart for anyone that needed him. In all his sufferings, both before and during his final days Joseph made the words of Saint Paul his own, I “rejoice in my suffering for you and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church.”

Joseph had a fondness for baseball since his young childhood and referred to the game as playing chess on the field.  He took after his loving mom (Nawny) in the kitchen and enjoyed friendly competition while playing cards.  He had a green thumb for both indoor and outdoor gardening.  He was childlike in his quickness to crack a smile and enjoyed lighthearted humor.

A veteran of the U.S. Airforce, Joseph experienced and was committed to several occupations including amateur photography and warehouse distribution supervisor, but mostly enjoyed his last job as a flight attendant for 17 years.

Joseph sustained his quiet fortitude throughout the years while growing deeper in his prayer life.   Recently he expressed a desire to be layed to rest in All Saints Cemetery if it were possible, as it was the only Catholic Cemetery he was familiar with.  Through the support and prayers of friends, family, and several priests, our Lord granted his heart’s desire.
