Joseph Francis Alfano, 73, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at his home in Voluntown, CT.  He was the beloved husband of the late Demitra E. Mustakos Alfano.  Joe was born in New Haven, CT on October 11, 1947 and was the son of the late Joseph F. and Mable Cann Alfano.  He was the owner of several restaurants, most notably the former Alfano’s Pizza & Pasta in Morris Cove, Wooster Street, Old Lyme, and Durham, CT.  Joe was passionate about his businesses and was a respected citizen in the community. Throughout his career, he was actively involved in providing donations and meals to local charities and feeding many families in need. People would say that he would give you the shirt off his back, and the meal off his table to take care of you.  Joe was a lifetime member of the NRA and Guilford Sportsman’s Rod & Gun Club in Guilford, CT.  He enjoyed boating, fishing, horses, horseback riding and his many trips out West to go hunting.  Most of all, Joe was a true family man. Nothing made him smile more than spending time with his family and friends. His love for them was unconditional and his loyalty and dedication was unmatched. Joe enjoyed making new memories and loved sharing old stories about his life experiences.  Joe was the loving Father of Alicia A. (Stephen V.) Mirabile, Joseph J., Gabrielle L., Denise, and Michele Alfano.  Brother of Joanne Laudano, Nicholas Rascati and Mary Giradi.  Also survived by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his brother-in-law Nicholas Laudano and sister-in-law Camille Rascati.   

The visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 10th at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
