Joseph Vincent Vegliante 94 of North Haven, Connecticut passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2022. Joseph (Joe) was born on April 5, 1928 in New Haven Connecticut to the late Antonio and Marianna Marano Vegliante. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary DeBona and brothers Eugene and Fred Vegliante. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife Catherine for nearly 54 years. He graduated from Boardman Trade School and served in the US Army Medical Corps during the Korean War. After his military service, Joe worked several years as a chemist for Flexible Tubing in Guilford, CT. Joe was born an entrepreneur. He owned and built numerous companies. Joe’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to commercial real estate. He founded the Delta Real Estate and Insurance Company in East Haven, CT. After retiring from real estate, Joe served on the Board of Directors for NHTV. He was the host and producer of the television show Connecticut Images for many years. Joe had a passion for music and as a young man was the founder and lead trumpeter of the Sonny Andrews Band. He was also a skilled drummist and mandolinist. For several years, he was a member of the Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra. Throughout his life Joe was active in Connecticut politics, the East Haven Exchange Club, the Leukemia Research Foundation, and a proud member of the American Legion Post 76. Joe’s zest for life and happy outlook will provide all who loved him with a lasting legacy. His family wished to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation for the care extended to Joe by the Veterans Association and the Renal Research Institute of North Haven.
Family and friends may call on Thursday morning, Oct. 20th at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue between 9:30 and 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Hamden at 11:00. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation at www.kidneyfund.org.
I have enjoyed Joe’s friendship for over 40 years We have had many good times together over the years. I will miss him

Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wallingford and Cheshire Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics. We were founded in 2017 by Mark Halliday and Robert Boucher. Our Veterans are an exceptional group and our intention is to bring together to socialize, offer assistance and support.
