Joseph “Whitey” Kornacki, 75, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Janice Balogh Kornacki. Whitey was born in New Haven on May 26, 1943 and was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Myjak Kornacki. He had worked as a gun assembler at the Marlin Firearms Corporation for 42 years until his retirement. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family, was a devote parishioner of St. Francis Church, New Haven and was A Friend of Bills. Father of Todd (Lori) Kornacki and Mark (Kristin) Kornacki. Beloved grandfather of Ethan, Emerson, Sophie and Tyler. Brother of Anthony Kornacki and the late Stephen “Doc” and Jon Kornacki.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Church, New Haven at 11:00. Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm.
