Josephine H. Tagliatela D’Amato, 94, formerly of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6th, 2022 at the Branford Hills Health Care Center.  She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo R. D’Amato.  Josephine was born in New Haven on July 25, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Francesco and Giuseppina Bizzaro Tagliatela.  She was an excellent cook and baker especially her meatballs & sauce, lasagna, stuffed peppers, holiday cookies & pies, anginettes, chocolate chip cookies, and her infamous friselles.  Josephine was a member of the Wallingford Senior Center where she loved to play bocce and pinochle.  She was an avid UCONN Girls’ basketball and Boston Red Sox fan.  Mother of Karen D’Amato, Laurie Sileo and Susan D’Amato.  Mother-in-law of Andrew Sileo, Jr.  Grandmother of Clara D’Amato, Andrew (Michelle Piombino) Sileo III and Stephanie Sileo.  Sister of Frank Tagliatela and the late Mary and Rosemary Tagliatela, Edith Sciarra, Madeline Bertolini, Anne Carrano, Ralph, Paul and Louis Tagliatela

The visiting hours will be Thursday morning, Oct. 13th from 10:00 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven at 12 noon.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, 209 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06032.
