Josephine Bello Montagna, 86, of Hamden formerly of East Haven for many years passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Hamden Health Care Center with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Alphonse M. Montagna. Josephine was born in New Haven on September 19, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Marin Perrone Bello. She operated a cleaners and seamstress shop in New Haven for many years then worked as a clerk for Service National until her retirement. Josephine enjoyed knitting, making dolls, cooking and baking. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by her sister, Rose Bello, Ann Candela, and brothers, Frank Bello and Louis Bello. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Constellation Hospice and Hamden Health Care Center for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Tuesday morning at 10:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hamden Health Care Center, 1270 Sherman Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514.
